GUNS N' ROSES: 'Chinese Democracy' In Canada; Video Report Available

November 25, 2008

A three-minute video report from Canada's CBC News on the arrival of the long-awaited new GUNS N' ROSES album, "Chinese Democracy", can be viewed below. The clip includes interviews with Canadian singer/songwriter Zameer and Ali of DEADSHYRE as well as Universal Music CEO Randy Lennox.

According to Hits Daily Double, the companion web site of music industry tip sheet HITS, first-week U.S. sales prognostications for "Chinese Democracy" are ranging anywhere from 300,000 to 500,000 (including a reported 25,000 downloads at iTunes). In order not to separate out the album's "first-week" sales into two separate charts, and under considerable muscle from GN'R's label IGA (Interscope Geffen A&M),Nielsen SoundScan has agreed to "hold the digital sales of any album which has a physical counterpart in order to accommodate first-week charting." Any digital sales accrued during a period that doesn't match the initial reporting week of a physical release will be carried over to the tracking period of that release. No digital sales will be held for more than one reporting week though, with each request decided on a case-by-case basis.
